About iTunes vs. Amazon MP3 Downloads

Previous Entry iTunes vs. Amazon MP3 Downloads Jan. 17th, 2008 @ 03:27 pm Next Entry
I've bought music from iTunes before. I'm just not fond of having DRMed music. Sometimes I have to burn it to CD and then rip it so I can get the MP3.

Last night, I tried using Amazon.com MP3 Downloads. At 256kbps, the sound is not bad. These are real MP3s, DRM-less music. So I can play it anywhere.

The selections with Amazon can really compete with iTunes' 9.99.

Plus, they're cheaper at Amazon.com. 7.99 or 8.99, compared to iTunes'.

The Amazon MP3 Downloader also integrates with iTunes.

I'm enjoying Radiohead and Megadeth right now. :-)

I'm not crazy about the DRM either, but Apple is slowly moving everything to DRM-free. If you have a song that is protected by DRM and you want it in MP3 format, you can just right click the song and choose "Convert Selection To MP3", so there is no need to burn a disc and rip it.

I've contemplated about going to Amazon because of the price, so I'm going to give it a try the next I pick up some music.

It is good. It's cheap.

They are watermarked though. Which is fine with me.

Oh no! You don't have cover art for your other songs! That is not pretty! :P

Sorry, I'm anal about it. I even do my own cover art for live songs I recorded. You'll never see a cover-less album on my Touch! It's that purty! Hehehe! :P

I usually use Audacity to convert my purchased songs from iTunes to mp3. No need for burning to CD and ripping it.

Oooh on the contrary.
The picture above is the album art from an Amazon MP3 download (Megadeth's album Rude Awakening). So they are pretty. :-)

I use iTunes to put the album art for BearPodcast.

The Megadeth cover art is pretty. The albums next to it (on the left) aren't. Heh! :P

Yeah, sometimes I forget the "scandalous" cover art of your podcast. I got some stares from people inside the van when they saw it one time. Hehe!

The ones with no cover art are just stuff I ripped.

LOL! Scandalous?! That's funny. I'll try to make it more Van friendly hehehe.
