About No More Chef in South Park

Previous Entry No More Chef in South Park Mar. 13th, 2006 @ 06:50 pm Next Entry
I was just watching Showbiz Tonight.
Isaac Hayes, "Chef" in South Park is quitting.

Here's the story

He's such an important character in South Park. He just couldn't take attacks on religions. :-(

If you'll notice at the bottom of the article, it says that he didn't mind all the other religions being attacked, just Scientology (his religion).

Good riddance, if he's gonna be a douchebag about it...

Well it was probably pressure from his Church. Just like the article said! He cashed plenty of checks when it made fun of Christianity!

Chef, although important in his own right, has not been a major factor in a southpark storyline in several seasons. He has fallen aside with Jimbo & Ned, Jesus, Principal Victoria, Mr. Mackey, The mayor and Officer Barbrady. The direction of the show seems to have lost it's way from what I've read and seen lately. I feel the show will end within another 2-3 seasons. It just isn't funny to me anymore.

And Chef was one of my favorite characters. Another good one lost to scientology.

I've been finding the string of religious episodes hilarious. The way that they worked in "Trapped in the closet" by R. Kelly inito the scientology episode was brilliant!

It's a double standard though, He was ok making fun of the other religions in past episodes.

His story is mega super lame!

The truth of the matter is, when you get to the point that your religious beliefs cannot accept some minor ribbing, then you belong to a cult, or even worse, you are a fundamentalist. honestly, as great a musician as he is, I can't say I've lost all respect for him, but I've lost an awlful lot.
