La Boheme is the common man's opera experience. People who otherwise hate opera like La Boheme.

Wear a tux. Have a great time!

Well I wouldn't call it common, perhaps more accessible than most. But you'll have a great time, and year getting dressed up for the opera is a lot of fun.

yes and it is the opera on which the musical "Rent" was based. There's even a reference to the famous aria. But then again.. the whole point of the story is a celebration of the "common" (well.. of sorts)

I'm on the right track! :-)

Tux? Do I really need to? It is matinee.

No, tuxedos are evening clothes, for after six. For matinee operas, a dark suit is fine.

But check around to find out what others wear. In some cities, you can get away with wearing anything. If the house has a website, it will probably suggest what to wear.

As I told you... it's no gay-er than going to see Clay Aiken (Gay-ken per Kathy Griffin) in Spam-a-lot on Broadway!
